Make your move

Another great book from a great leader. Mark Miller teaches you how to grow the organization through the game of chess. Reading this book you will learn four principles or moves that will increase the leaderships ability to grow as a team, but also as individuals. The story line is captivating, I could not put it down. A great read and a great tool. I was faced with a personal challenge during the reading of this book. I had been playing chess in my ministry team, organization and personal life. I made my move now make yours get the book

Why Swing To Kill?

Jer 48:10 "Cursed be the one who does the LORD'S work negligently, And cursed be the one who restrains his sword from blood. I hear and read about Christians loosing their lives for their faith. Many loosing their lives by the sword. So my title may sound inappropriate. This title and verse from Jeremiah is the source. I will begin to blog again once a week. Lets see whats next

I Was Wrong

Good morning folks. I was reminded last night about honor. I was reminded how scripture tells us to honor our loved ones and authorities. How we should pray for them. I was under conviction and also having a hard time with it. Let me explain my self. I love my country. I have a passion for my country but more for my God. My love for my country comes from a greatful heart towards God. America is great and there is no other country in the world like her. She has a great history and has a special place in the world. She is great because of her people and her God. This country has a great constitution and a great form of government. These are my thoughts of my country. Simple. When President Barack Hussein Obama took office I was angry. Angry for I knew that all that made America was the very thing that this man was against. His view of America was wrong and deadly to her strengths and future. I could not understand how a God fearing Bible reading community of Christian believers vote for this man. I would hear my Hispanic people say that they voted for him because he will help Hispanics get papers. Blacks because he was for the poor. Whites because it was time for a black president. I voted my bible and my convictions. I voted for liberties and my future generations liberties. I voted for my constitution. I voted for the blood that was shed in foreign soil that was shed for me and my fellow Americans. I voted for the ink that wrote the declaration of Independence. When America is strong the world is a better place. I in my zeal and love for God, Family and Country, I sinned by speaking in a way that dishonor the President and the office of my beloved country. God tells me to Honor him. 13 Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, 14 or to governors as sent by him 1 Peter 2:13-14 (NASB) 17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. 1 Peter 2:17 (NASB) I love my country but I love my God more. I live in the greatest country because I have a great God that allow me to live here. He is the reason 200 years ago a group of christians left their homeland to find what Reagan called "the City on a hill". I write all this to ask God and my love ones and anyone that I have offended to forgive me for dishonoring The President and my country. I still disagree with everything he stands for but I will choose my words better to speak against him. I will still fight with every fiber in me to defend my country against any tyrant that attacks the very thing that made America great. It will be a greater sin not to.

IS IT ME OR THE STUFF IN ME?

Do you feel that every time its your turn to move forward you do something to hinder that promotion that next level that relationship and then say you something like. See I knew it, to good to be true....this always happens to me... well I never get a chance.... HEY check your baggage..... your stuff. We run to our stuff/baggage every time we are faced with a decision.... to move to a different place in our lives home, job, moral or spiritual or marriage. When ever we are going to another level we seem to self sabotage it.... Why do we ? It's the stuff! You may ask. Ok how do I know if I have issues sin or baggage or stuff? If you said yes to any of the above you do have something going on . Right? Hey if everyone has to change around you. If you change the atmosphere when you get home or in the office or any where… you have baggage… ok! The Apostle Paul puts it this way. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. 19 For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. 20 But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. Romans 7:18-20 (NASB) This sounds like my fight. I want to stop sabotaging my life but I seem to not be able to quite. You may cry out how do I stop hurting and hurting others. Wait hurting others? Yes hurting people hurt people. You dont want to but you do. King saul is a prime example of a person hurting and destroying those around him. He died in the battle field with his son. I dont want to die in the battle field with my son because I dont take care of my issues my stuff. Victory is not for the coward. General Patton talking about a fight put it this way. “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory” ― George S. Patton Jr. Its a fight to break that pattern in your life, that is destructive and vile to your life and to those around you. How do we then fight? 1. Face your stuff, your sin, your pattern. This means we get honest about ourselves. We admit our stuff and call it for what it is SIN! Anything that is destroying your life, your family and your future is sin. (missing the mark) 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:8-9 (NASB) Confession is agreeing with God what He says about your stuff. 2. Renouncing or repenting for the stuff. Take ownership, call it what it is and change your perspective of it. Break any legal connection to it. Renouncing is an active response to what you are breaking free from. This is hard work. You are going to not only make some emotional changes and physical one too, you are going to change everything in about you concerning this sin/stuff. in the book of acts in the new testament we see an example of this. 18 Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. 19 And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing. Acts 19:18-20 (NASB) The people were practicing magic and witchcraft. Their way of life was going to change it took a great deal of courage but they did it. You too can break away from the stuff the sin and be free. S2K

Consistency in Your Swing

I remember the first time I tried to make pancakes for my little one. I was a single father and did not have much experience in the kitchen. Quickly I grab the box from the pantry that read, just add water. Since I am a man and do not need to ask for directions or read them I put everything together. Yes I added water! How much? Lets just say we ate something else after trying to convince the kids that daddy's look that way because they are special. All four gave me that look. yeah right. Then I tried to cook rice, but that's for another post when we discuss concrete. The Bible is full of Stories of Men and women that have had great falls. I always wondered what was it? We read or hear of leaders and non leaders having short comings too. We all have our days or even seasons. What is it that we lack in our christian life. Consistency. We just forget to keep doing what works. Here are some steps to keep it simple and honest. 1. Pray. Yes we all do this but we get so caught up in the hustle of life. Rule to remember: If I am to rush to pray I need to Check my priorities.18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, Eph 6:18 (NASB) 2. Read The Bible. Yes you do that too. I know! King David probably had just read the torah when he took that late walk in his patio.16 Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Col 3:16 (NASB) 3.Fellowship/church. I don't mean sit in a pew. Be the Church. Go out of the four walls. When you are in the four walls engage. Be open to the holy spirits voice. Make it real!31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. Acts 9:31 (NASB) 4. Worship. I don't meat sing. I am talking about a life style.8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Phil 4:8-9 (NASB) Nothing deep but simple. God is not complicated religion makes it complicated. Take a swing at it. S2K
